Project Year

2023/24 - Ongoing

£20 million

Fronting the Limehouse Cut in Tower Hamlets, this new 7 storey residential development joins many new developments in the Mile End area. The northern apartments will face the Limehouse Cut Canal, whereas the South side apartments will face the Canary Wharf skyline. The development consists of 84 new apartments, with 57 private, 10 shared ownership and 17 affordable housing.

RC Detailing challenge on this project was speed and efficiency. The rate of construction was impressive, as the client wanted the building designed and detailed to enable a rapid deployment on site. There was a basement with heavy reinforcement requirements in the foundations. Pullout bars were used in the cores to enable the slabs to be connected later. For the contractor, the close proximity to the canal and the constraints of the site, made it more difficult for site access and storage.

For speed, working closely with the Engineer to receive the design and layouts for each element, we could deploy staff immediately to deliver a package of information that the contractor to use immediately to order and to start progress on site. We provided a dedicated detailing team to the project, with clear instructions of priorities. The finished article is a clean impressive structure ready for the internal fit out to start.
